I am a third year student at UIC majoring in Integrated Health Studies. My major has exposed me to many amazing health and social science classes as well as expose me to different health and social models (such as the social, medical, economic, and nutritional model). One of the classes I had the opportunity to take was DHD 101
This class changed the way I view my environment where I realized how it is limited to the disability community in such ways like having limited access to public facilities, services, and technology. I chose to join Connecting Dots International because I believe disability is not included in all aspects of our society yet. As an active member of this society, I feel responsible for addressing this issue. CDI is an excellent platform for the disability inclusion movement. It gives me a perfect opportunity to work together with the disabled community to make our campus disabled friendlier premises.
